It is conceivable this has something to do with Judy Garland- her death which neatly coincided with the Stonewall Riots, and possibly the multi-cultural aspects of the word Rainbow- interaction of races, for example. Of Course , Over the Rainbow was Garland"s them song and such phrases as (friends of Dorothy) pop up alsp./ by the w3ay a violent cyclone- as worked into the Plot of (Oz_ would almsot by definition not produce a rainbow, or it would be invisible owing to the darkened vortex c louds. a Cyclone cannot normally produce a rainbow, storm warnings indeed.

The rainbow flag, also known as the Pride Flag or LGBT Flag represents the diversity of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities.

It was developed in San Francisco in the year 1978 by Gilbert Baker. Since then, it has been developed and abridged to correspond with the availability of materials and fabrics. It is usually flown in a horizontal fashion with the red stripe on top.

It doesn't. It signfifes inclusviness of all orientations and identities.

_________________________________________________________________________

I think its cause gay also means happy, and rainbows are a symbol of happiness. But I'm not sure.

_________________________________________________________________________

I believe that the variety of colors relates to the variety of sexual orientations. Metaphorically speaking, there are many colors in the rainbow which all form a harmonious whole, and that is the ideal of human society as well, for the variety of people, with their various sexual orientations, to get along with each other and to form a harmonious whole. People should not be in conflict just because they are different in some way. Or to put it another way, contrasting colors make the rainbow more lovely, and contrasting people make society more interesting.

One theory about the rainbow flag is that the creator of it, Gilbert Baker, was inspired when he heard the song "Over the Rainbow" by Judy Garland. Each one of the eight colors in the flag has a meaning. They are as follows:

Hot pink - Sexuality

Red - Life

Orange - Healing

Yellow - Sunlight

Green - Nature

Turquoise - Magic/Arts

Indigo - Harmony/Serenity

Violet - Spirit

The rainbow is one of the symbols for gay people, but that doesn't mean that rainbows are for gay people. Rainbows signify inclusion of everyone.
