Leafy and Weedy sea dragons are both considered "near threatened". They are not endangered or extinct. Whether they are beautiful and exotic species, but not exactly rare to the area in which they are found. However, because they are only found in Australia, the rest of the world would like to have them. Illegal exporting of sea dragons, as well as habitat loss, are contributing to the decline in sea dragon populations.
