Are epiphone guitars made in the same factory as Gibson guitars?

Epiphone was a company all it's own at one time, owned by a luthier, and named after is son, "Epi." As Epiphone made quality instruments, Gibson purchased the rights to the name, at which point Gibson became responsible for the construction of Epiphone guitars. But, Epiphone makes Epiphone guitars, not Gibson. Gibson is only responsible for providing the materials and the construction regulations. Some would even choose an Epiphone over a Gibson.

Does Gibson makes guitars in china?

No. All the Gibson-branded guitars, be it a $480 Melody Maker or a $15k artist signature Les Paul, were/are made in the USA. I think their sub brand guitars, including those that are sold at Walmart, are manufactured outside the US and some of them may well be made in China.

How good is the quality for Chinese Gibsons?

Proper Gibsons are not made in China. They are made in America and some are made in Canada. Gibsons made in China are fake. Unless you talking about Epiphone. Whose quality is questionable from time to time considering the price.

How good are epiphone dots?

Well depends on what your expectations are in a guitar. Epiphone does indeed make some great guitars. How much do you have to spend and if you can save up, go with the Gibson version of whatever Epi model you're interested in. There are really high-end Epiphones too. The Masterbuilt series of acoustics are very well made. They have very high-end electrics as well. They used to be their own independent company til the late 50's when Gibson bought them as their "lower line" of guitars. They moved production to Japan in the 60s a d 70s, then to Korea and now to China. It is my opinion that the current Chinese made instruments are not the same quality as the Korean made, and it can be argued that the Korean made instruments aren't as good as the Japanese ones, and so on. I have a 2 Korean made Epiphone guitars and they are very good. I play them regularly at gigs as my main instruments. I just bought a Chinese made model and am not happy with it, so I would suggest buying a used older one if you go with an Epiphone. Again just my opinion, but I play for a living so I'm very critical of my equipment.

What is generally good about Epiphone guitars?

Well, for one there super cheap. Secondly, they tend to play about as good as a Gibson, compairing the Standard Gibson with the Epiphone, and thirdly, they sound good with pretty much any amp, they can be used for almost any type of music, and are quite a bit lighter, weight wise, than a gibson. From a personal standpoint, I have a couple guitars, and one of them is the Epiphone Les Paul Special II, Another is the Dean Vendetta Camo, I play them on a Line6 spider III, and the Epiphone has more tone for metal, the epiphone has more tone for solos, the epiphone sounds better on the clean channel, (but only when play rythm) and it looks alot better than the Dean, now I know there are some differences between the two, but I do preffer the Epiphone over the Dean, however to be fair, I will say this, the Dean has a MUCH faster neck than the Epiphone, and the Dean's all (even the cheapest, most crapy playing) have 24 fretts to Epiphone's (all that I know of) 22 frets. I am going to turn the Dean guitar in for Epiphone Standard Les Paul, but first I will change the pickups in the epiphone for Gibsons, just for Giggles. And I'll update when I do.

Is epiphone a good guiatr brand?

In my opinion yes. Really, with gibson i find that your just buying the name and some epiphone are really amazing. It also depends on what genre you play. If you play metal then yes. They produce lots of guitars with emg's and floyd rose'. Some good metal guitars are the prophecy series and some limited edition models. Alson the gothic series guitars are good with slight modifying, (You'll have to stick emg's in and im gonna get mine inlayed). If you play different genres thaen yes they do and they have a great range of acoustics aswell!

Why are epiphones cheaper than Gibsons?

Epiphone is very much similar to Gibson, at a cheaper price. Epiphone is owned by Gibson. Gibson makes Epiphone to give guitarists a Gibson feel, at a lower price, without sacrificing quality. Epiphone has some models of its own that Gibson doesn't, and Epiphone makes guitars with the same basic body shape and with some similar technology, hardware and electrical components. I own two Epiphones and a Les Paul, but I dont see any difference in quality between the two brands. I guess it just depends on sound taste. Gibson has a warmer feel to it, while Epiphone has a sharper sound. So basically think of Epiphone as a little brother of Gibson.

Are any Gibson guitars made in Canada?

Yes, some acoustics are, but no electric guitars. They are all made in USA.

What are some guitars that have the body of a Les Paul guitar that arent Gibson or Les Paul like a Schecter solo-6?

Which is better Gibson Baldwin or epiphone?

Gibson Baldwin is an educational series Les Paul Style Guitar. They have some budget features hence the low price, for example "bolt-on neck" instead of "set-in neck". Interestingly, they have the trademark Gibson "Open-book" Headstock design. Usually this design is reserved for Gibson USA models. Not even the Gibson Epiphone series has this style headstock. Made in China however Chinese instruments are gaining a positive reputation, quality from China is improving rapidly and the Gibson Baldwin is good value for the money.
