The 1998 Corolla engine is the same as the 2000 Corolla engine. That is a 1ZZ-FE 1.8 Liter DOHC. Engine although the 2001-02 have the 1ZZ-FE 1.8 Engine too, they were manufactured with Toyota's newer Fuel Management System VVT-I R. Chang
In the United Kingdom the Toyota Auris is the successor to the Toyota Corolla, in other words the Auris is what the Corolla would look like today had Toyota decided not to change the name. Maintenance wise, the Auris and Corolla are both viewed by Toyota as the same car in terms of services and therefore both follow the same maintenance schedules.
yes they are the same cars from 1992 to 1997
no...

Starter of toyota corolla and matrix is not the same. The best thing you do if you change your starter by yourself is to remove and compare to the new starter.
Yes. They both have the same 1ZZ FE engine and transmission
The same thing happened to my 1992 Corolla, and it means the alternator needs to be replaced. Although the same thing happened again when the belt went out on my water pump.
