In a 2003 Ford F-150 :
The 4.6 liter and the 5.4 liter V8 engines have the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system with ( 8 ) individual coils
The 4.2 liter V6 is EDIS ( Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ) and has ( 1 ) coil pack for the six spark plug wires / spark plugs
beneath each individual coil pack. You need to remove a coil pack to get to a spark plug.

take off cover on top of valve cover - coils sit on top of each spark plug (eight coils). Might as well replace spark plugs since your in there. Passenger side is easy, drivers a bit tighter.
You should never need to replace the wires leading to the spark plugs. The 2003 Miata has a coil pack at each spark plug (inside the spark plug hole). The wires leading to the coils are low voltage and should never break down.
there is one coil for each cylinder, and there's 4 coils mounted to each spark plug cover. open the hood. you'll see the spark plug wires. those go directly into each coil
They are towards he top of the engine. You have to pull each coil off to get them out so just look at the coils on top, next to the fuel rails.
These new Ford's have electronic ignition coils which eliminates the use of sparkplug wires. You should have 8 sparkplugs and 8 coils. These coils have plugs that go over the sparkplug. Each coil has it's own sensor which is connected to a harness and a screw that need to be removed in order to get to the sparkplug.
the coils are directly on top of each spark plug. they are round and have an electrical plug coming out of the side.
There are electrical wires all around the vehicle. If you are looking for spark plug wires, it does not have any. The spark plugs are hidden underneath the coils which are part of the spark plug cap for each plug. After you remove each coil you will see the plug deep underneath. The coils themselves are quite inconspicuous but you will find them if you look carefully.
