The answer is no. Once you check that box "Ever been convicted of a felony" yes, you might as well just tear it up. I have a felony from over ten years ago...recently I had worked for local retailer...and they liked my work so much they paid for management training and I was due to run my own store in a few weeks, but since I had marked no on my "felony" question (just so I could get in the door to put food on the table). So right before promotion time I told them about it, and only a month after that they decided to fire me for not telling them about the felony when I first applied. Despite how wonderful they thought my performance was, despite that I had proven I could be trusted with bank deposits, crew mgmt ..running their stores...they said policy was policy. According to them, Had I told them up front about the felony everything would have been ok...bs! So if you don't confess the felony upfront you will be fired, if you tell them about it up front you wont be hired...so what do you do?

So I tried to do the right thing, I was up front with every application, yes I have a felony...10 years ago blah blah and after 60 applications and 40 interviews in Columbus Ohio and surrounding areas...nothing! Every interview is the same, they look nervous and cant wait to get you out the door. Always with the excuse "its policy" .

The Government is the worst to try to get a job, not only will they not hire you, they will not cover companies with bond that do (example insurance sales..United Insurance Group...even though I would pay for my own training and license and work as an independent contractor..they cant hire me because some of the insurance they sell is Government based..

So..Here I sit as the bills continue to pile up and wonder what im supposed to do next...Yes I made a mistake..a stupid young kid mistake...fine, I paid for it with time and restitution...I PAID MY DEBT, and yet I still am being punished. I don't want pity I just want a job..that simple. So what am I supposed to do? How did I get Rehabilitated? Im worse off now then ever! Heck Im screwed really, I won't go sell drugs or anything else stupid because I don't want that kind of life, I really don't. However I really understand why people go back to that...sure its wrong but if you need food and nobody will give you a job...? I just want to work. Its funny how people say how they want crime and such to go down, but then when people get out and are ready to prove they can be productive in society..they get nothing but sterotypical responses.

Columbus Ohio, is not a convicted felony friendly city, nor are most nowadays..regardless of their claims, once you get out of prison, you are on your own, and you have to survive somehow...question is how?

One thing to note is, the prison population continues to skyrocket..its crazy and out of control, the cost is outrageous to house an inmate and due to state funds being cut, guess what? alot of these people are being released...what good is prison rehabilition if you never get the chance to prove it? All I can say is they need help, and if cities like Columbus Ohio don't help their own citizens get jobs then they will do what they have to do to survive, I have seen some of these guys and you don't want them running around in your neighborhood pissed off with no job. Its a stupid system and makes no sense to me.

Once you are convicted of just one felony, you have really limited your options for future employement in anywhere, especially Cowardlumbus.
