The third generation Kindle is cheaper than 250: you can get the K3 with Wi-Fi for $139 and the Kindle with 3G and Wi-Fi for $189.
You can add the "special offers" Kindle, which is the Wi-Fi version (normally 139USD) for $114. It basically means you'll get ads on it.
The Nook is also cheaper than 250 USD now.
