There may be a few artifacts from Italy brought to Rome, but for the most part they are left where they were found. Rome has plenty of remains of it's own; it doesn't need any more. However the Vatican museums have many artifacts from Italy, and although the Vatican is an independent country, it is surrounded by Rome, and for practical purposes you could say that the Vatican artifacts are in Rome.
