There are pages of data and pages of facts, most of which are well presented and accurate. There are however facts that fail to be mentioned and included in the historical record either because the author has a particular bias, prejudice, was convinced that the information lacked credibility, was obscure or not even relevant to the topic or was simply lazy.
For example, the information from most of the survivors who could provide facts regarding what was said and done by the defenders was never recorded or reported. Susanna Wilkerson Dickinson was the only adult Anglo to survive the battle and what is known about the internal happenings at the Alamo comes from her account. There is no record of testimony from the other adult women survivors. (They were Mexican and the social and political climate of the day probably meant that no reporter or historian even spoke to them.) Black adult males besides "Joe" survived but their testimony, if ever provided, is not recorded. The cook "Bessie" survived but apparently provided no testimony. Some of "Joe's" statements were accepted since they confirmed what Mrs. Dickinson reported.
A second problem regarding the record of the Alamo is the failure to note the major contribution made by Mexican Americans at the battle. It was not a battle between a small group of white males versus a hoard of invading Mexicans. It was Texians versus the Mexican Army.
