There are freeze plugs on each side of the block,their are also freeze plugs on the front and back of the block.
There are 8 freeze plugs, 2 in the back of the block, 2 on each side of the block, and 1 on each side of the timing cover on the front of the block. There is 1 on each side of the block that is hidden behind the motor mounts.
The heads themselves have NO freeze plugs in them. But the block/engine has 8 freeze plugs in it.

If this still has the factory motor it should be either a 3.0 V6 or a 4 cyl. Both of them should have the freeze plugs located in the side of the block. It is identifiable by the circle shaped "cups" inserted into the side of the block.

the frost plugs are in the block and head. if you have a block heater follow the cord to the block heater, it replaces a frost plug. that should give you an idea where they should be located
When the engine is removed from the engine compartment, and detached from the transmission, there are freeze plugs on the back side of the engine. You may be able to just disconnect the engine from the transmission, and loosen the motor mounts and lift the engine partially away to replace the freeze plugs.
