Are there headrests from others cars that can be used to replace the SUPER uncomfortable driver's side headrest in a 2012 Honda Civic?

I bought a 2012 Honda Civic yesterday and after googling "uncomfortable civic headrest" realized I had made a huge mistake. today I went to try to fix the problem and did find that a Nissan Sentra headrest and a Toyota Matrix headrest will fit, but the cost is $585 for the former and $395 for the latter.
Honda will do nothing about it.

No. No "kit" is available. Just replace the headrest with a new one from a dealer or a replacement from a junkyard.

The headrest has metal tubes that go down into the seat back, they go through plastic clips that have a button that you can press. If you can feel for the button by pressing on the back of the seat back with your thumb. This requires alot of effort and pressure. If you feel it and can push the button, pull up on the headrest at the same time. You can pnly do one side at a time. However, if you are going to recover the seats anyway... just cut the back of the seat back open about 2 inches directly below where the bottom of the headrest goes into the seat, look inside for the white plastic clips, press the button, etc.

There is a small pin hole in the plastic part in the seat that the headrest goes into. after bringing the headrest up as far as you can insert a straightend paperclip into the hole and press as you lift up. You may also need to depress the thumb clip on the other side of the pin hole at the same time. I removed mine, it wasn't very hard. Good Luck!
