All you have to do is talk to that person the same way that you would it talk to him if he would it be awake. Just because he can't respond doesn't mean he can't hear you. Don't give up, the more you talk to him the more chances he'll have to come out of that stage. I once worked years ago in an institution for the severely disabled, and some of the people there used a method of communication where they had an alphabet chart, some were able to memorize it, some not. I can't remember what it was called. But perhaps you can research it on Google. The way they used it was, I said stuff like "line one?" and they blinked once for yes, twice for no. Then I would start saying the letters that were on that line. It was a very SLOW method of communication, but it worked!

As an individual background tells a lot about me and my personality and also it will influence the way i communicate with people if my first language is not English and from my background i was thought another language which is not English when communicating with people who speak proper English i will find it had to adapt to what they saying because my background has an influence in the way i communicate also in some cultures which is equivalent to a person's background communication methods can be done differently from how another individual might communicate E.g. eye contact can be found disrespectful in some cultures and that could have a huge influence on how they communicate.
