You have to make the mashes and to get carrot you need a meadow. Go to the store and buy a meadow and carrot seeds. Then you go to your meadows and click grow crops and plant the carrot seeds. Then you wait! :)

You can only get horses on howrse. You can get animals like chickens, goats, dragons ect. for their companions though.

I have never tried it, but i believe there is no limit. (there isn't a limit on howrse for anything except how many of ___ you can have in your inventory from the store.)
How do you do objective 53 on Howrse?
Well you can wait for one of your horses to die :) or... well ... get a cheep horse you don't really like and age them a bunch of times without taking care of them... it's barbaric I know but it will work :(
