∙ 15y agoWizard is a rank of a medieval Royal Court given to a selected Witch, or a Wise man. A Wizard is responsible to give technical advise to the king, and give divinatory, astrological prophecies.
A wizard of the medieval times is equivalent to an Engineer, Astrologer or a Counselor in modern days. Unfortunately, since we are not in the medieval times and we don't have kings who would consult a Wizard, there wouldn't be any Vacancies for Wizards.
You may also have referred to a Male Witchcraft practitioner. Well, they are also called Witches. The word Witch is not male or female, and could be used for both genders. A man who practices Witchcraft can be called a Witch.
Yes, "anyone" could be a Witch. To be a Witch is a long process of learning and practicing. There are many forms of Witchcraft. The most popular form nowadays is Wicca. But there are so many other paths as well.

∙ 6y agoYes and no. There really are people who call themselves wizards, and there really is magic to a degree. However, the wizards in fiction are just that, fiction.
In terms of magic, there are people who claim to be able to bust clouds, alter the weather, manipulate objects with thought, etc., and there are anecdotal reports of such. None of this has passed scientific rigor. I myself have experimented with some of these things with mixed results, and not consistently enough to move beyond the possibility of coincidence.
