First thing is first, not all white kittens are deaf. It is usually ones with blue eyes.
Second, it is to do with genetics. There are certain traits in a creature's DNA that make up what they look like, how they act, what diseases they will have, and basically anything. Have you heard of dominate and recessive traits? A white kitten with blue eyes all have dominate traits in their DNA that cause them to most likely be deaf.

∙ 14y agofor some reason many white cats are deaf, not all, so it is hard to say, if you make a loud noise right behind dher, and she does NOt react, you will know that she is deaf, if she reacts with big eyes and the ears go back, she is now very mad and will probably ignore you for days!

∙ 10y agoAll cats can't hear for the first few weeks of their life after they're born. But all white cats are not born deaf. It is only white cats with blue eyes that are more likely to be born deaf - but that doesn't mean all white, blue-eyed cats are born deaf.
