No deer can not swim. Some people claim to see deer swimming but they are either standing on a rock out in the water or on an under water bridge that only deer know of. They can smell it underwater and like to walk on the bridge out to the middle of the pond or lake. They usually hide under water but are sometimes caught taking a breathe of air. There are websites that give false information saying "Although deer prefer to be on land, they can swim up 13 mph." That information is wrong. DEER CAN NOT SWIM.
