If you are attending a four year institution and you were dismissed, you can attend a community college, do well, and transfer back to the four year institution after you have proven yourself, and have shown them you have rectified the circumstances that contributed to the failure event. Remember, you are not a failure. Failure is never a person, it's an event, something that happened because of something you did or did not do. You will have to reflect within yourself and identify why you scored low in your courses, then work on the remedy. Read the following carefully as to why students have failure events at college. This should help you to identify some areas that should be of concern to you.

Read the following as to why some students fail. Then read what I have posted to an individual who was experiencing problems at school. You should be able to obtain some valuable information for yourself.

  • Lack of good organizational skills
  • Lack of passion for what one wants to do (career goal)
  • Lack of discipline (or maturity)
  • Lack of good study habits
  • Peer pressure
  • Procrastination
  • Dissatisfied with college or university environment
  • Other issues beyond a students control

Below - once again - I had posted this to another individual, but you can pick out some useful hints.

The first thing I would like to say is this. When people find themselves in situations like yours; they consider themselves failures. Remember this. No one is ever a failure. Failure is not a person, it is an event; something that happens. It is something that occurs because of something that the person is doing, not doing, or beyond the individual's control. So, let's dump any notion about failure OK? If it's in your heart that you want to be successful, and you are willing to adjust your time and effort then you will be successful. You must be 100% committed.

You can't control the direction of the wind, but you can certainly adjust the sails. This is what you will have to do. You will have to develop some time-management skills. You need time to be at school, time to study, time for friends and recreation, time for family, and time just to be by yourself. The key to success - in this instance - is proper balance. Everything in moderation. It is true that sometimes the scales get tipped because one area may require more time than usual, however you must strive to keep balance.

Do not feel that you have to give up something you really enjoy in life, such as the internet, and gaming, but again we are talking about using appropriate balance. You will need to write down a schedule for yourself with allotted times for each category. Next, you will have to use some of your will power to keep to that schedule. If you go off schedule do not get discouraged. You will need to practice, practice, practice!

In addition, you must find a vision for yourself. A vision is a clearly articulated picture of the future you intend to create for yourself. In other words it is a dream. However, a dream without direction will remain nothing more than a dream. So, you will need to find an overall goal or objective, and you will need to develop a road map for yourself in order to get there.

OK, let us say one objective is to become passionate about a career goal. Let us say that because you are so immersed in gaming, you can picture yourself as becoming a game creationist, developer, or designer. Well, now let's put together a road map to get there. In today's technological world, colleges and universities are now offering degrees in gaming - within multiple areas. So, how do you get there? You will have to devote time to school and study always keeping in mind the overall objective. Remember, quality class time is only a part of it. You will need quality study time also. Still, at every moment keep your eyes on the overall goal. Picture your self developing awesome games, and even ones that educate. You must develop a passion for what you do and the benefit it brings others as well as yourself.

Now, I would like you to write down the following and list your:

* Strengths

* Weaknesses

* Opportunities

* Threats

Everyone has strengths. Think about it and be honest. Evidently you have gaming skills right? That's a good start toward your career goal. You have the ability to persevere etc. Just list them all down and don't be afraid to boast a little.

Now list your weaknesses. Weak focus on education. Low self-esteem, addition, lack of will power etc.

You list your opportunities. You have the opportunity to become educated. You have the opportunity to develop your body and keep in good health. Remember, strong body, strong mind. Again, just keep listing them down. If you think long enough you will find many, many opportunities.

Lastly, list down any threats you can think of that would interfere with reaching your goals and objectives. Maybe it's money, or lack of support from loved ones. Anything you can think of that you feel could interfere.

Now, you will attempt to maximize your strengths and opportunities while minimizing the weaknesses and threats. You will need to develop strategies to accomplish this.

Remember also, no one can steal your dream, unless you let them. Keep focus at all times. I wish I could continue with this, however I would be writing a book. There are so many things to learn, yet you will have to pursue them as your heart leads. Do not sit there feeling sorry for yourself, when you can do something about. You can do what ever you wish. It takes 10% aptitude and 90% attitude. So take charge of your life and just do it.

  • Acquire the will to change circumstances
  • Acquire a vision for yourself (a specific career path)
  • Develop a road-map (a written plan)
  • Give it 100% commitment and do not let go until it becomes a reality for you.

What happens when you fail math class freshman year and have to take it over again. do you have to re-take it all year or is it just for a semester or something?

I am not clear if you are asking about a college math class or high school math class. If it is college you take it for one semester. Some math classes are divided into two parts and you take one the first semester and then the second half the next semester. If this is high school it could be for the entire year.
