Pine bedding is fine for guinea pigs. Some people believe pine shavings contain aromatic oils which could be potentially harmful for small animals. If you're worried about that, just air the shavings by placing them in an open container for a couple of days before using. That should be enough for any potentially harmful emission to dissipate.
The kind of bedding you never want to use is cedar; that one is indeed very harmful to guinea pigs.
G pigs can't have pine shavings, because they could get slivers from sharp pieces of wood.
They can, though it's probably not a good idea. Many people believe that wood shavings in general, and cedar and pine in particular, are bad for guinea pigs.
yes but just don't get ceder it could harm them.
because they need the softest bedding possible, plus they don't chew up there bedding like hamsters.
It does nothing! Doesnt really matter
no. your guinea pig will adjust.
The best bedding to use is wood shavings. If the pine is in shaving form then yes, youcan. Never use newspaper as bedding. The ink can be toxic to little pets.
You should not use cat litter, pine shavings, or cedar shavings. It would be better and healthier to get a guinea pig a different bedding.
Pine, cedar, and dusty bedding can harm your guine pig.
Yes use pine bedding NOT sawdust it is very bad for there lungs if you need any advice on guinea pigs contact a guinea pig rescue not a pet store
Many rodent owners suggest not using pine bedding, because they believe ingestion of the pine will cause discomfort or even death to the little critter. This is believed to happen by swelling of the food in the stomach.
usually its ok if your pig eats the bedding if you think its having problems ask a vet.
Kiln-dried pine or aspen shavings, fleece, or a paper-based bedding such as Carefresh.
I don't think it would be a good idea. Use pine bedding from the pet store. If you use carpet they will probably bite it and strangle. I have had two guinea pigs before
if its beding is hay then yes it normal for any g-pig to eat hay But you should NOT use hay for bedding. Hay is to eat, you should use either aspen (NOT pine) or recycled paper bedding that you buy at the pet store. Improved: Actually, it is normal for guinea pigs to eat their bedding. I know that it is gross, but guinea pigs are supposed to eat their droppings because it gives them necessary nutrients that they don't have time to absorb the first time it goes through their bodies. Recycled paper bedding at the pet store is the best, and the best kind of hay is the KAYTEE brand Timothy hay. Hope that this helps!
Pine bedding can increase respiratory problems in hamsters.
Pime bedding is really the best you can get. You can get it at your local feed store. pine bedding and cedar should not be used for guinea pig bedding because the oils can irratate them and cause respiratory problems which can be serious.
