As a teen I worked in Chicago at the Buffalo Ice Cream Parlor on Irving Park and Pulaski this would have been during the mid 60 any one have memories?

Yes, I grew up in Chicago and frequented the "Buffalo" many times. I recall an older lady who worked as the cashier, and when my brothers and I would go in and order fries we would sit at the counter, and she used to watch us like a hawk with the ketchup. If we used too much she would come and take the bottle away from us. I also remember the way the orders were prepped when it was busy, someone would take the appropriate glass or dish and squirt syrup into it and then line them up on the counter so the ice cream guru knew what to make. Of course this was before the days of computerized point of sale systems which would have just printed out a ticket to indicate what was ordered. I am sure there was some "inside code" as to what dish or bowl or glass meant what item was ordered and what syrup meant what flavor/flavors the order was supposed to be, I could never figure it out though. All in all it was a great landmark that I am surprised was torn down to make way for a gas station, as if the 2 that were already at that corner weren't enough. I also remember that towards the later years they opened up a record store next door. They sold records, t-shirts with transfers on them and other miscellaneous stuff. Long live the BUFFALO!!!
