I think the Reciever of Memory was passing his job to Jonas because he had a similiar bond to "The Giver", such as his pale eyes that were rare. Jonas is also an intelligent boy with integrity, but above all, he was able "to see beyond".
Jonas misinterpreted the Receiver's job because he was initially told it involved only receiving wisdom and advice, not actual memories. This limited description did not convey the emotional weight and complexity of the memories that the Receiver actually bore.
Jonas misinterpreted the receiver job because he had to lie and he had could not tell his parents how he felt or what dream he had

One-generation memories are ordinary memories belonging to previous receivers of memories, while the memories Jonas receives are significant and emotion-filled memories chosen selectively by the Giver to impart wisdom and knowledge for the betterment of society. These memories are not randomly selected but deliberately transmitted to Jonas to fulfill his role as the Receiver of Memory.
Jonas tries to calm Gabe by telling him stories and singing lullabies, but ultimately resorts to giving him memories of peaceful events to help him sleep. By transmitting memories to Gabe, Jonas hopes to provide him with comfort and alleviate his restlessness.
The receivers dwellings is filled with books, music, and memories, while Jonas's dwelling is minimalistic and uniform. The receiver's dwelling is private and filled with knowledge, while Jonas's is shared with his family and lacks personal belongings. The receiver's dwelling is luxurious and secluded, while Jonas's is more functional and communal.
After transmitting the memory to Jonas, the Giver's role is to guide and support Jonas as he becomes the new Receiver of Memory. The Giver also helps Jonas navigate the emotions and challenges that come with his new role, serving as a mentor and source of wisdom. Ultimately, the Giver stays behind in the community while Jonas escapes, holding onto the memories and continuing to provide guidance to those left behind.
The Receiver transmits memories to Jonas by placing his hands on Jonas's bare back and transferring the memories through touch. This allows Jonas to experience the memories as if they were his own.
Jonas made himself and Gabriel cold by transmitting memories of cold to hide them from the heat sensors of the search planes. This helped them escape detection and avoid being captured.
jonas learns that the reciever isnt as old as he seems to be
The Giver's job is to transmit memories to Jonas.
The Giver asks for forgiveness because he knows that transmitting painful memories is difficult for Jonas. He understands the burden he is placing on Jonas by sharing these memories and wants to make sure Jonas does not blame him for the suffering he is experiencing. Asking for forgiveness shows that the Giver cares about Jonas's emotional well-being.
