I am a student myself, and I believe that if you recommend books-especially the ones that already like to read-then it will start to become a trend. Also, you could start reading books independently in the classroom that are for kids their age.
More and more children are playing video games or are on the computer, more kids should start reading at a younger age, because of this. To answer your question, unfortunately, many children are not reading books. Hope this helps.

You do not have to be a certain age at all. People start reading at various ages for any number of reasons. Personally, I started at age 13, but there are some people who don't start reading comics until well into adulthood. There are also some who have been reading comics since they learned how to read. It doesn't really matter WHEN you start, just THAT you start!
