By the time a kitten is four to six weeks old, most kittens will begin to take an interest in their mother's food. It is then time to introduce some solid food in the form of a fresh raw meat diet. Feed a kitten in a very shallow dish, not a deep bowl, and be sure to warm the food to at least room temperature. Filtered water is preferable to chlorinated tap water. Cats do not require much water when fed on this species-appropriate diet, but fresh water should be available nonetheless.

When does a kitten need cat food not milk?

I would not let them eat cat food until they are 6 - 8 weeks old. I would use goat milk instead of evaporated milk. It's easier for them to digest. If you do start them on cat food at 6 - 8 weeks, be sure to buy KITTEN food and not CAT food. There really is a difference.

What helps a mother cat produce milk for her kittens?

Cats nurse kittens until the kittens are about four or five weeks old. At this age, kittens begin to wean and are able to eat soft kitten food. The mother cat's teets will dry and retract slightly. The only true way to tell if a cat is still nursing kittens is through observation.

What do one month kittens eat?

They can eat regular cat food. They're old enough to chew. Many good cat food brands are suitable for both adults and kittens as there is little difference between the two. Because they are growing, kittens need far more proteins than adult cats, so any good cat food with lots of meat in will provide enough nutrition for it.

What do kittens eat apart from cat food?
