It is probably post nasal drip caused by a sinus infection. Did you recently have a cold? My doctor perscribes anitbiotics. You can try a sinus rinse......try the rinse with the small pot that pours water into your nose. Twice or three times daily until the cough goes away.

What happens if you take xtc when you have a bad cough?

You will be likely to stop coughing; MDMA (the active supplement in XTC) was originally designed to be a cough surpressor. I'm not sure what will happen to you because you're not coughing; potentially a build-up of slime in the lungs. Try at own risk.

I have a very bad cough that has been for two years and now can taste blood when coughing. my chest hurts without coughing and during coughing. what can this mean?

First, go see a doctor immediately. Anything other than air and mucus coming out of your lungs is abnormal, blood indicates that there is damage in your lungs, possibly due to infection (Pneumonia, Tuberculosis, etc.) or, worse, cancer. You should definitely see a doctor immediately -- lung conditions should always be taken seriously.

What is the benefit of coughing?

Coughing is a response to a blockage in either the throat, trachea, or lungs, which is blocking proper airflow (i.e. preventing you from breathing sufficiently). Coughing is an attempt by the body to expel whatever is causing such a blockage. It is a fairly straight-forward mechanical action - the diaphragm contracts quickly, and uses the created air pressure to "push" against whatever the blockage is. Repeated coughs are used against difficult-to-expel things, such as mucus in the lungs.

What is the purpose of coughing?

Do you ever wonder why people cough? People cough when they are choking on food or drink or when they are sick because they are trying to clear what ever is in the body or in their trachea out. Phlegm, excess mucus down the airway can cause coughing, and irritation in the lungs and trachea can cause severe coughing bouts. Respiratory illnesses like Bronchitis and Pneumonia are especially bad for causing coughing (as is the highly dangerous contagious disease known as SARS), both of which are mainly caused by bacterial or viral infections.
