Bad smells when the fan is on often indicate air-con problems. Water can pool in the system, which encourages various types of growth. Running the air-con on full for half an hour may resolve it. A dehumidifier in the vehicle may help.

Have the fan blowing the air out of the room! This creates a vacuum effect. It's like sucking out all of the bad odor. Most people want to bring fresh air in, but trust me the other way works better!
