this has baffled us mechs. for years! it seems that only Ford has this problem. the ONLY fix is to have new tie rod ends installed. insist on the new neopreen type. they don't squeek. this has been the only I have EVER been able to stop it. ford put out a "t.s.b" on this problem and it is there only suggestion for stoping this noise.
There are thousands of bushings on the car. They are made of rubber and need to be changed when they are dry and cracked, they will also squeak.
change the sway bar rubber bushings and sway bar link bushings
We changed both and the binding squeak stopped.
In most cases the squeak is caused by dried out and worn bushings around the sway bar. Worn rubber bushings on the sway bar links may also cause this squeak. Have you noticed the sound disappears when driving in the rain? If your answer is yes to this question then indeed the bushings are worn out and the rubber they are made from has deterated. The water sprayed up from the rainy road bed acts as a lubricant and for a short time will cause the squeak to go away. Replace the links and bushings as soon as you can before they cause further grief.
Follow the steering column down to the floor, there you'll see a u-joint fitting with rubber bushings. Spray there with WD-40 and the squeak will go away.
Sounds like the lower A-arm or the sway bar bushings , these are made of a rubber type compound and will squeak when they dry out . The squeak disappears when its raining because the water is acting like a lubricant . replace the bushings just don't lube them, lubing them is only a temp fix and they will start squeaking again soon , replacing these bushings will help with the cars handling.
Most of the time the squeak is coming from the interior plastic cover of the rear hatch door. If you close the hatch door and hear a squeak then you know what I am speaking of. The clips for the interior plastic cover on the hatch door move and squeak over bumps and when closing. Not sure how to fix the problem yet. Maybe DynaMat...?
imy 2000 ford ranger has a squeak in the front end when i go over a bump or turn it mine has the squeak too,,, so i have heard that its the power steering pump and the rubber bushings that help the cab not jar so bad i havent figured out what it is but when i do I'll post beck
A squaek in any car is usually an indicator of worn suspension parts. The most likely causes are dried up rubber bushings. They can be temporarily quieted with some WD-40, but they will soon need replacing. If the squeak is metal-on-metal, the rubber bushings are completely destroyed and some metal parts my need replacing. Don't worry. Suspension parts are cheap. I have had the same squeak coming from the rear of my 1995 Lebaron Conv. Under the back axle, which is in the shape of an upside down U, there is a metal pole runing as a stabilizer in the "tunnel" of the U. This begins to rub and causes a squeak that most mechanics and other techs. do not find. I simply put a brace betweek the tube and the U, problem solved!
Check the shocks first they will squeak pretty bad when going out ( dried out seals ). Bushings will squeak but they would have to be pretty bad to do it when just pushing on the front end.
Had mine lubed and they said it was bushings.
Check the ball joints. If they are dry grease them. If the ball joints are good try looking at the stabilizer bushings and the links. Greasing these will fix the horrible squeaking coming from the front end.
