In November 1942 in Wichita, Kansas, Madelyn Duham gave birth to Ann Dunham, the mother of President Barack Obama the first African American President of the United States. Ann died in 1995 at the age of 52, and Madelyn died in 2008 at the age of 86, two days before her grandson was elected President.
