It signals the compressor to load when the pressure in either the wet tank or primary tank drops to a point of no more than 25 psi below the cut out pressure, and signals the compressor to run unloaded between 115 and 130 psi, also signaling the air dryer to purge.

My 1999 fld frieghtliner is leaking air from the air governor what is wrong with it?

First, be sure you've got the right part specified. I know a lot of people who frequently mistake the purge valve for the air governor. In either case, replace it... the air governor is a $20 part. If that doesn't do it, check for leaks from the valves in the firewall, because a faulty MV3 valve is a definite possibility.

How often the air dryer has to relese the air on a semitruck?

there is no set time for the air dryer to release, however, the more himidity in the air, the more often it will release. the dryer is actually dumping moisture with some air ,but mainly moisture. if you dump the airtanks and they relaes a lot of water, the dryer is not working properly the dryer releases it when the governor tells it to the governor does not dump the air. the governor is on the engine and tells the air comprssor when to pump air and when not to pump air. a lot of trucks do not have an air dryer installed, and theses trucks need the tanks dumped manually at least once a day

How a bendix functions?

The Bendix is part of the electric starter motor (or starter). Your starter in your car is basically a little electric motor that begins to turn the flywheel on an internal combustion engine. When you turn your cars ignition "on" (turn the cars' key), you send current from your battery to your cars solenoid. The solenoid takes the current and sends/converts it to a little -but very strong electromechanical motor. This current flows from the solenoid to the starer and travels into the Bendix, which is the gear piece on actual electric motor. It is made of strong forged steel about the size of a wedding ring, but about an inch thick. This Bendix wheel has deep "teeth" on it that form a gear. When the Bendix is activate, it travels from the housing of the electrical motor to the cars flywheel (the flywheel turns the internal combustion engine). The Bendix gear meshes with the flywheel like the gears on a giant clock. The strong little Bendix turns the large flywheel, and starts the engine in motion. Once the engine is in motion, all that is needed is air, gas/fuel and spark. If you ever saw an OLD car from the 1920's, you'll see a person CRANKING the engine from the front of the car while the driver operates the ignition. The person turning the engine is essentially the Bendix. This is also why you don't necessarily need a started for a manual shift car. If you push a car, you can pop the clutch and essentially put the flywheel in motion without ever having a starter- you just have to be really strong or park facing down hill. I hope that's not too much information. Bendix is a brand name, the part is called the starter drive.

How do you adjust the air Governor on a Cummins 325 engine?

The engine is irrelevant... you either have a Bendix or Wabco-Meritor air brake system. First, you need to locate the air governor. It could be mounted to the air compressor, to the air dryer, or on the frame rail. Next, you have to identify which type you have. Non-adjustable air governors have a blue cover; adjustable ones have a black cover. Remove the black cover. To adjust it, you'll need either a 7/16" or 11mm wrench to loosen the lock nut at the bottom of the adjustment screw, and a slotted screwdriver to turn the adjustment screw. Every 1/4 turn counterclockwise should raise the cut-out pressure by about 4 psi; every 1/4 turn clockwise should lower it by about the same. Keep in mind that your cut out pressure should be between 115 - 135 psi, and your cut in pressure no more than 25 psi below that

How can explain inertia governor?

An inertia governor is a device used to regulate the speed of an engine by controlling the fuel or air flow. It works by adjusting the position of the throttle or fuel metering valve in response to changes in engine speed. As the engine speed increases or decreases, the governor uses centrifugal force to actuate the throttle, maintaining a steady speed.
