Between the material and non material culture which is more lasting and important?

Materials and culture have gone hand in hand from the dawn of time to the present. For when first hominoid released his dead grip from that holy grail that the first tool employed by a living, thinking being had to have been, other hominoids around that had noticed such tool in actioin and upon being unanble to duplicate it must have immediately recognized the importance and value of such commodity. Owning it, or one like it became the difference between life and death.
Property is and has always been a staple of any society even on the barest of times, furthermore it will continue to be more relevant and important to those who devote enough time thinking about it.
Diogenes believed that this world was able to support all who lived in it without anyone having to do any wirk for it. And that may be true. Look at the bums around town, although I am unaware of their actual condition they seem far from starvation and at times even happy.
Of course there are also children in the Sudan and other places where starvation is a real problem. Are they better of because they have very little or no property? Of couse not. But they are starving because of the current political situation in the area and not because the world is not able to produce enough food to reach them.
There is a definete co relation between how much materal stuff one has and the quantity and quality of food one consumes. Those with few material possesions tend to eat less and simpler food than those with many and expensive material possesions. Why make this comparison? Because wheather we realize it or not, we own material possesions for two reasons. To own them fow what ever reason, but uncounciously we know that if worse comes to worse we can always sell those possesions and survive one more day.
Those who belive in a life devoided of material possesions better hope for no misfortunes to their societies while they are alive. A Mexican singer argues that a coin is better than a friend since it will surely spring you out of jail.
