Biotechnology has boosted the agricultural industry dramatically, it is defined as the application of chemical, physical and engineering principle to the biological systems.

It ranges from the manipulation of the genome to the use of vaccines, therefore, offering significant opportunities for the improvement of the impact of agricultural production on the environment. These applications will assist the reduction of dependence of agri-chemicals by producing animals and plants that are pest/disease resistant. Biotechnology will also improve the ability of vaccines or even produce milk that will boost human immunity against bacterial infections.

The use of biotechnology in the agriculture industry provides excellent benefits to human medicine through the mass production of proteins that will be able to control bleeding, dissolve blood clots during cardiac arrests, and act as a blood thinner.

Major breakthroughs have been anticipated in the future which include, abilities to turn genes on and off, the development of feeds that will be capable of enhancing nutritional values; vaccines being delivered through plants, and the advancement of xenotransplantation (the use of animals as a source of organs, tissues and cells for cross-specie transplant).

I hope that this helps you, if there are any further questions feel free to ask!

Is an Ayrshire a dairy or beef animal?

Charolais are the worst breed you can think of for dairy purposes! They are a beef breed, not a dairy breed. When they were originally developed they were used for milk, but they were found to be more suitable for being raised for beef and a draft animal than for dairy production. Charolais cows don't give much milk anyway.
