I have one key for my 2002 gti, I can not lock the lid.
The key wiil not enter the lock. The doors will lock and the rear lid will alarm when opened. Something is in order.
My 2002 Tribute has the same problem, caused by central locking motor failure in the back hatch.
There certainly is Not, its extremely possible that such an event could happen.
This is the central locking vacuum pump and is located within a protective foam shell and secured by a rubber strap.
While pulling on the handle as if to open the hatch, take a screw driver and pop the locking mechanism/latch to the open position. It should work no problem.
I have a 96 Chevy Blazer S-10 and the latch to open the window in the back hatch will not work. How do I replace the motor?? or whatever to repair?
The back hatch will often not open if the internal mechanism or release has become damaged. Replacing the latch is the most effective and reliable fix.
You will need to remove the plastic panel on the inside of the hatch. From here you can access the locking mechanisim. Follow the cable to the latch and use somthing like a screw driver to lever it open.
Very very ugly. trust me you don't want to see it
The T-handle or lock mechanism inside the door is damaged.
The modern ones are made of clear plastic. They seal around the equator with a titanium ring. Older units were made of various metals and had a locking hatch on top.
If you mean the hatch thing on the roof in the middle you have to collect all 6 pieces of torn paper to form a picture of the dragon lock mechanism. Adjust the mechanism so it matches the picture and it will let you in.
You can: -Open the drivers door and press "unlock" -Have a keyless entry system installed at a Best Buy or similar car audio shop. All of the locks (including the rear hatch) are on a central locking system and they will all lock or unlock together.
