A society that relies on non renewable resources is unstable because these resources will eventually be used up faster than they can be produced, leaving the renewable society with no resources, leading to society's death.
Because renewable sources can be replenished (apex) because we will not run out of them
The ultimate goal of an environmentally sustainable society is survival. Another goal is to make the environment habitable and conserve resources.
Populus and Resources Control tasks encompass every avenue of society including control, supplies, communication, transportation, medical care and personnel. There is actually nothing that can be excluded from this category.
You get a sustainable society that does not need to constantly use up resources. It will probably open up more doors to more technology. See the link below. For one it helps clean up the environment, secondly, it helps create green jobs. +++ The interesting question of course, is why no-one thinks about those resources' uses beyond simply fuel for heating, transport & electricity generation. I suspect some of the problem arises from ignorance of the difference between fuel and energy, but we have to remember that fossil fuels' source minerals are the raw materials for a vast array of materials we take for granted - including much of the computer on which you are reading this. Whatever we do, many of the claims for "green" employment, "sustainable living" etc are frighteningly hollow because people don't stop to analyse them.

Generally they are more convenient and portable. Most of our energy is produced by non renewable sources and society is, presently, adapted to that. Many people would say they were not better, because of the carbon they are putting into the atmosphere. They are cheaper at the moment because few countries have a price on carbon. See the related question below.
I dont think this is in the right category. (humour and amusement?)But to give you an answer:Non-Renewable resources are important, in some cases even more important that renewable sources. One way that they are important is, they are a large component of the worlds economy.Non-renewable resources include Gold, Coal, Oil and other rare to semi-rare minerals that society needs. Gold is a major non-renewable resource, as it is a Global form of currency. Coal and oils are also Major in that they are currently the main resources used for electricity production, metal production etc. Without Non-renewable resources, the worlds economy would be much smaller considering the fact that almost every country has some sort of resource to sell.* anyone improve? *

What goods and services are to be produced with the limited resources of a society.? How can the limited resources be used to benefit the society? Who are to be benefited from the existing resources:? How can the economy change to the fluctuating environment? How can health and sustainability be addressed?

It's cheap.... To be honest though, there's nothing good about it. It's dirty, unhealthy and non-renewable. Our society is ever changing and so must we change along with it: Renewable resources all the way! ----------------------- Coal is plentiful . Coal is the largest source of energy for the generation of electricity worldwide.About 40% of the worlds electricity comes from coal.
A throwaway society is exactly what it say its a society which throws its food or useful resources away. The damaging consequences are the fact that we will run out of resources and we will have to go without

At present it is no kind of energy source and unlikely to be for many years to come. Technically it would be non-renewable, but the raw material is the most common element in the universe so that's not likely to be an insurmountable problem.
