Maybe the switch is bad or sticking? The brake light switch is under the dash toward the top of the brake lever. You can easily check to see whether there's power to it and whether it's operating properly with a voltage and/or continuity tester. Cheers
The cambelt should be changed every 100,000 miles on a Toyota Townace. If the light is on that is signifying that there may be something wrong with it so it should be checked as soon as possible.

JUST CHECKED WITH A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. HERE IS THEIR RESPONSE. "I checked and Toyota specifically calls out that warranty is voided if any Toyota vehicle is flat towed."
It doesn't have one. It has a special fluid in it called Toyota world standard which is never supposed to be changed. It does not have a dipstick, because it actually has to be checked with a Toyota diagnostic tool in a special transmission mode because the fluid has to be checked between a very specific temp range. I work for a dealer in parts. Dont drain the fluid it will have to be towed to fix it.
Get it checked out by a Qualified Toyota Lexus mechanic.
I would have the transmission checked , because the toqure converter may be ready to lock up permenitly
Toyota pirus...last time when i checked..
You do not adjust the valve clearance on a 2008 Toyota until it has 60000 miles. At that point, you might pay for getting it checked, or check it yourself. However, Corollas normally run 100,000 miles and even longer without any need for adjusting the valve clearance.
Typicaly all Toyota timing belts should be checked every 10,000 miles and replaced every 50,000 miles it all depends on engine use and driving styles. If you do replace it buy an after market nitrile belt, some of the longest lasting belts.
Bad thermostat maybe?
Chain, checked and bought one through toyota..
The struts need to be changed every other year.
