I am currently having this same issue with my 03 Vue, and I got a diagnostic done (twice). The issue seems to be the BMC. Initially, I had the same issue as you, but over about the next year, my gauges started to bounce and the powersteering goes in and out. My SERVICE light also lit up and my A/C stopped working. You put the ignition to on without starting the car, then you have 5 seconds to pump the gas pedal 3 times. It then goes away once you start the car. I have a 2008 Vue XR and I just had to do it. Good luck. Jim
