Make sure the fuel shut-off valve is in the on position. Also could be fuel inlet valve inside carburetor bowl. Check for varnish or gum and/or sticking needle valve. Also common is clogged fuel filter, clogged fuel line, or faulty fuel pump (if equipped).
Is the rumor true? Is Briggs Stratton going out of Business?? We were told not to by lawn mowers with the Briggs stratton motors.
Depending on how this mower got out of tune is how you are going to know how to tune it back. It may be as simple as adjusting the mixture screw on your carburetor, or as difficult as filing the points (older engine) or replacing the diaphragms on the carburetor.
Closed or faulty fuel valve, clogged or faulty inline fuel filter, improperly installed or broken fuel pump (if equipped).
I'm going to say no, that would be like putting a Briggs and Stratton in a '69 Camaro...
check location of gas line, heat may be causeing vapor lock, fuelpump going bad,
I'm doing this now. i drilled through the rivets. started with an 1/8th drill bit and a little oil on top of the rivet. the problem is going to be finding replacement screws that will hold the starter cage once you have replaced the cord. some Briggs and stratton engineer needs to be taken to the wood shed.
Try going to www.briggsandstratton.com you can reference parts based on the engine model number and you can even email questions to people. This is where I go when I need to find something out for my mower.
it could mean you need a new carburetor
Try going to their web site or you could order a manual from them.
Absolutely not, they are the world leader in small engines in both the USA and global markets. They consistently show strong profits and manufacture an outstanding product.
The valve clearance is set by grinding the faces if there is too much clearance or grinding the tip of the stem if there is too little. If it is a OHV engine you can easily adjust the valves. Try going to the link below for a video that shows how to adjust the valves.
Your bolts are too tight on the carburetor...over time, the carb is going to split because it's just aluminum.
