Is excelsior college nursing a good program ?
Excelsior College's nursing program is no longer accepted by the California and Georgia Board of Nursing. Also, Excelsior's clinical performance nursing examination (CPNE) has a poor rate of success. Excelsior College's nursing program IS NOT accepted in California, unless you were an LVN ENROLLED in the program BEFORE the BON made the decision. You would then fall under the grandfather clause which would allow you to sit for the Nclex in California. In July '08 Georgia BON decided not to endorse Excelsior graduates. After votes in the Georgia Assembly and words from Gov. Perdue as of April 2009, Excelsior College's nursing program IS accepted in Georgia. Not only will it allow graduates to endorse but Georgia is now allowing Excelsior graduates to sit for the Nclex to obtain a Georgia license. Excelsior nurses are now able to license in Georgia. 6/14/2009

You can contact the Georgia State Bar Association for a definite answer to this question, but I do not believe that convicted felons are eligible for admittance to The Bar. - - - - - - - - Added: The fact is that, in Georgia, a convicted felon cannot ever vote again or obtain any kind of license, other than a driving license. Therefore, one cannot practice law, be an insurance agent, real estate broker, or anything that requires any state licensing. You are far better advised to move to Florida, where your civil rights can and will be reinstated once you have completed all your paper (parole, supervised release, etc.). As to practice of law in Florida, it is possible to be admitted to the bar, but it is VERY difficult to obtain an approval. I am given to understand that a convicted felon can practice in California, at least with respect to certain areas of the law, if not all. Some sort of limited admission to the bar.
