How does 22 CB long ammunition compare to 22 long rifle ammunition?
The CB Long is a designation used by CCI for a cartridge that has the overall length of the LR cartridge, but a much lighter powder load. This results in a cartridge that is easier to cycle through a repeating rifle (actual CB caps are TINY!) but has far less energy than the LR cartridge. As a result, they are much quieter than the LR, the bullet travels slower, the bullet drop is greater, and the penetrating power is much less.

Depends on how the barrel is marked. IMPROVING ANSWER: If this gun will feed the short rounds thru the magazine and action and up into the chamber property, then great. It's safe to use them. It's always safe to shoot .22 shorts or .22 CB ammo in a .22LR gun, but many guns made for .22LR will not cycle or "feed" the shorter weaker rounds in the normal way, so then you'd have to put each round into the chamber yourself. A lot of modern guns that will handle shorts, longs, and long rifle .22 rimfire rounds have the barrels marked simply ".22 LR" and that's a bit misleading.
