Premium brands from the pet store are better than the ones from the grocery store or discount store. Look for a food with a real meat product as the first ingredient. Brands with corn meal, wheat, meat byproduct and other non-meat ingredients at the top of the list are not as good for your dog and will cost more in the long run for vet bills because of poor health especially as the pet ages and because the dog needs to eat more to get the same nutrition and then the dog will also produce more waste.

Yes, Most are fine but never feed a dog grapes, It will kill them. Also Raisins are bad also along with chocolate.
