the correct answer is...MAYBE. each and every furniture store sets its own policies that consumers must adhere to to a certain extent. Usually, the company will put these policies in writing, either on a website so you can read them before entering their establishment, or on some type of form which they will usually have you sign before ordering your items. If the store does not give you a copy of their policy to sign, or at least read, BE SURE TO ASK! If they do give you a copy of their policy, be sure to read it in its entirety, just like you would any other binding contract, because if you put your signature on it, that is exactly what it is. Most states do have statutes regarding implied warranties on purchased items which vary from state to state, but individual rules set by companies regarding how they conduct their business cannot be regulated to the extent that they do not violate the customers civil rights. So be careful and know what you're getting into before you finalize the sale! REMEMBER! IGNORANCE OF THE COMPANY'S SET POLICIES [like the law] IS NO EXCUSE!!! you should check with the store's return policy before you buy the furniture. However, let's assume the policy states something that is not in your favor. Phone the company and tell them the truth and explain your situation. The company may agree but you may need to pay for restocking fee and freight charge.
