Sure, if they want. Women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) can wear whatever they want, but are encouraged to dress modestly as a sign of reverence to their bodies. Modesty guidelines in the church include avoiding sleeveless tops, avoiding showing the cleavage or midriff, and always wearing pants or skirts that reach to the knee or lower. There are no guidelines or suggestions about headbands, hats, etc. Headbands with bows and flowers on them are quite popular right now and Mormon women and teens have adopted the trend.

The only exception might be female Mormon missionaries, who have much more strict dress guidelines. They can typically wear a small headband but nothing with a large bow or flower on it.

Does the Mormon hierarchy practice gender selection?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) has an all-male priesthood because this is what is directed in the Bible. (see 1 Timothy 3:2; 1 Timothy 3:12; 1 Timothy 2:12; 1 Corinthians 14:34; also take into account there are no women ordained in the Bible) Although women are not ordained to the priesthood, they do hold leadership positions in the congregation and in the worldwide church. Women preach, teach classes, and lead congregational prayers every Sunday. Women are very active in working together with the priesthood and work side-by-side with the men in almost every situation. Check out the "Related Links" to learn more about women in the Mormon church.

Is book of Mormon a masonic book?

No. Anyone familiar with Masonry who reads the Book of Mormon would find no correlation. The Book of Mormon is similar to the Bible and is considered by Mormons as another testament of Jesus Christ, to be used side-by-side with the Bible. What two religions have scripture from Gold Tablets delivered by an angel?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believes that the Book of Mormon was written on golden colored (although not necessarily the metal gold) plates, delivered to the prophet Joseph Smith by the Angel Moroni. Joseph Smith then translated the plates by the power of God and published the writings as The Book of Mormon. Mormons use the Book of Mormon side-by-side with the Bible. Other religious groups which have broken off from the Mormon Church, such as the Community of Christ and the Apostolic United Brethren also use the Book of Mormon as scripture. How do Mormons treat women?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" Church) teaches that women are equal to men, although given different roles. Men are consistantly reminded that women are to be treated with respect - any form of abuse is absolutely not tolerated and is grounds for excommunication. Objectification of women (through pornography and other means) is also grounds for excommunication. Women and men are instructed to work together "equally yoked" to serve their families and the Church. While men oversee the Church generally, women are essentially responsible for making it happen - they organize congregation and community activities, service and humanitarian projects, provide Sunday School lessons, youth groups, and other worship meetings. Women provide sermons and prayers in Sunday Services regularly. In fact, the Church's women's organization, the Relief Society, is one of the largest women's groups in the world. See the "Related Links" below for more information on women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Is the Book of Mormon wrong?

That is up for you to decide. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) believe that the Book of Mormon is scripture, that it testifies of Jesus Christ, and that it should be used side-by-side with the Bible. Many who are not Mormon, however, believe that the Book of Mormon is a total fraud and that it is an abomination. Mormons ask that anyone interested should read the Book of Mormon, sincerely pray to God asking if it is true, and make their own decision about whether it is a true scriptural account, or whether it is false. They believe that this personal witness is essential, and that each person should know for themselves. If you would like to read the Book of Mormon and form your own opinion, visit the "Related Links" below. Here you may read a digital version of the Book of Mormon, listen to it on MP3, purchase a copy, or request a free copy to be brought by the missionaries. Mormon missionaries also offer to meet with you (free of charge) to help you study and understand the Book of Mormon.
