They can do. However please bear in mind that different species of birds have different beaks.

Birds with short beaks are fed small grain-size foods which they can break open. Whilst birds with large beaks are fed larger food which they won't accidentally swallow and choke on.
Parakeets can eat finch food, but they should ideally have food produced specifically for parakeets due to their beak differences.

You probably mean budgie. They are often refrenced to as the parakeet. The parakeet is actually a group of birds. Parakeet means"bird with a long tail".(Just to let you know.) Anyway, finches eat finch food and BUDGIES eat budgie food. They need different vitamins for their bodies just like every other group of bird needs different food.
