Just in case you do not know. Silver Sharks (Balantiocheilos melanopterus) are not sharks at all, they only bare a slight resemblance to the sharks of the oceans. They are not very demanding as far as pH and dGH are concerned, so they are relatively easy to keep water wise. They are not aggressive fish but they do get quite large though. They are around 15 inches when they are fully grown and prefer to be kept in groups. Because of their size a minimum sized tank for these fish would have to be around 6 feet long. The Zebra Danio (Brachydanio rerio) only grows to a maximum of 1.5 inches and will co-exist with most other peacfull fish. There should not be any major problems caused by putting these two species together. All that is needed is a properly set up six foot aquarium.
i think they come from India or near there anyway
Yes, they are about the same size and they both community fish.
That tank setup is fine. In fact, you could even add 1 or 2 more zebra danio(s). It is recommended that danios live in a shoal of at least 5.
Zebra Danios should live in a shoal of at least 6 fish, they are tropical (warm water), and should be fed tropical fish foods
Harlequin Rasboras White Cloud Minnows Zebra Danios Guppies Mollies Platies Swordtails Corydoras
Only the giant danios, the smaller ones will become dinner one day. And it all depends on your parrot's personality... Mine will chase and try to eat any and all other fish in her tank!
Danios live for about 3-5 years. Try to get a group of danios that are the same size.
Glo fish are Zebra Danios that have been injected with a jellyfish gene to make them glow. They can mix with most Tetras OK.
Yes but they have eggs NOT live babbies.
Danios normally live in warmer water but are also excellent swimmers in cold water
It is only with years of experience that an aquarist can judge the age of many fish species. Zebra Danios are fully grow at 4 to 6 months old and only live about 3 years or so, so it is a bit difficult to tell how old they are.
Each Wal Mart will vary in stock a bit, but in general they all have goldfish, bettas, and plecostomous. Most will also have some sort of guppy, zebra danios, tetras (I've seen mostly neon tetras in particular), and many carry GloFish (zebra danios that have been modified to fluoresce). Wal Marts will typically have some live plants and snails or ghost shrimp for sale as well.
