WikiAnswers is moderated by Supervisors. WikiAnswers creators have decided to allow manual moderation, which makes the job a bit more complicated. What action is taken against WikiAnswers Supervisors that abuse their blocking power?
If a WikiAnswers Supervisor is found to be abusing any of their powers, they are demoted immediately and taught how to use them correctly. If a Supervisor is knowingly abusing their powers, they are blocked from contributing.
Who deems questions harmful and how can a question be harmful?
WikiAnswers is an On-line interactive Community where individual users can both contribute to by changing answers and report contributions that they deem harmful. An example of a harmful question could be where a derogatory remark had been made against another or maybe a Copyright or Intellectual Property had been violated, or on a more serious note that sexual offences are committed because of the content of a question. It is for this reason that WikiAnswers has an army of Supervisors who respond quickly to such reports and can also see where the Community itself has dealt with a "situation". It is for that reason that WikiAnswers is unique and can set itself aside from other online question and answer services.
What is WikiAnswers doing to prevent cyberbullying?
All Supervisors are always looking out for anyone cyberbullying, and when they see it the contributor is blocked. There are people working constantly reviewing and correcting answers and they remove inappropriate contributions when they find them and block the contributor if necessary. If you see any cyberbullying please report it to a Supervisor, they will deal with it, or report it by email to the Community Advisors as explained in the related link provided below.
Can you get sued by WikiAnswers?
WikiAnswers is a website (and also a community) and as such, it does not have the legal capacity to file a claim against any person or entity. However, the company owning the site and in charge of operating it - Answers Corporation - is a U.S corporation, and as such, it has the legal capacity to file claims against people and/or entities in appropriate cases and circumstances. To sum it up, you can NOT get sued by WikiAnswers. You can, however, get sued by WikiAnswers' owner and operator, Answers Corp.
Is Wikianswers gay friendly?
WikiAnswers tries to be friendly to everybody, and a safe, comfortable place for all. Verbal abuse and cyberbullying are not allowed to be used against anyone regardless of characteristic or trait. Everyone should have the right to live their lives with dignity and respect. If you see objectionable content, just let a supervisor know about it, or contact a Community Assistant. Alternatively, if you have the ability to fix it, you can, as long as you stay within the rules regarding page blanking, and other policies. Please keep in mind that only supervisors and CA staff can take sanctions against abusive users.
What went wrong if you asked a question and answered it yourself on WikiAnswers but when you reviewed that question it said 'unanswered question' so you answered it again and it still said unanswered?
Make sure you actually 'saved' the question. This could also be a browser problem not allowing you to save it properly. Remember, your answer will be removed if it is nonsense, or against WikiAnswers community guidelines. There can also be a server lag sometimes. Try asking the question, then refresh (F5), then when the question finishes reloading, answer and save it.

Although Supervisors may have and indeed show diverse convictions, characters and ways of doing things, they should always keep in mind the common goal: creating and maintaining a quality permanent information resource. To enter into a bitter conflict with another Supervisor or to disrespect his or her work in any way is something that should never happen. We're all human and we will all make mistakes from time to time. We're also learning and sharing a project that is in constant expansion, and new challenges will always appear. Below are some recommendations from WikiAnswers Supervisors to help new supervisors to understand the ins and outs of effectively communicating with other supervisors. They are not meant to replace the official WikiAnswers Terms of Use or other WikiAnswers guidelines as presented in our detailed Help Center. Here are some things to keep in mind along the way: * Before reverting a Supervisor's contribution, contact him or her and explain your concerns. When a disagreement arises, try to arrive at an understanding or at least find common ground. Should this fail, you can request the assistance of an experienced Supervisor or Community Assistant who both trust.
