yes same bolt pattern
GM never made a 450 tranny, you probably mean a turbo 400 tranny and yes it can be done.
It is behind the throtle body in the intake.
yep

The Bolt Pattern Is 5x4.75 (5 Meaning There Are 5 Lugs)
The detent cable adjustment.
Yes
no
You might have a bad flywheel.
84 and 85 cutlass's came with olds 307 small blocks. and others came with V-6's. now an olds 307 will slide right into a 72 cutlass (i have one also (: as long as the cutlass was a v-8 (olds 350 rocket and olds 455's were the v-8s that came in the 72's.) so yes the bolt pattern on the tranny and the engine mounts will all match up with the 307 if the 72.
If the place where the dipstick for the oil is comes out of the engine it will cause an oil leak. The engine might not be able to build up enough pressure to keep running either on the 1984 Cutlass Supreme. It should be replaced.
it is located on the driver side underneath the engine. its circular in look with two lines one leading to the carburetor. two bolts leading into the engine. also there is a rod inside the mechanical fuel pump.
