Due to loss of current through connectors and wires.. But i cant remember exactly what the voltage needed after the loss is? anyway.. hope that helps you a little

Available in AA and AAA sizes. If your question is can normal 1.5 volt regular batteries be used instead of rechargeable 1.2 volt batteries, the answer is yes. I do it with my camera batteries all the time when I forget to charge the NiCds. Tip always use alkaline to prevent damage if you forget your batteries in the device for an extended period.
