is a cable with many conducting wires running parallel to each other on the same flat plane.
If your CD drive does not want to turn on when the ribbon cable is plugged in but when it is not it turns on what could be the problem?
You may not have a ribbon cable that is keyed so you can only insert it in the right position. Try turning the connector upside down and see if it will fit. i tried both ways.. it is the same for the hard drive aswell

One ribbon is your primary and the other is your secondary dont mess up. There is normally 2 plugs on 1 ribbon. Don't mistake by saying 1 plug is primary and the other is secondary. It's just a master and a slave that's it if you change plug from one hard drive to the other there you can talk jumper but you might need in order to work in your bios to change the startup hard drive on windows and also get to configure jumpers.
