Catholics may attend a service in another denomination but may not participate in their communion. Also, Catholics may not substitute attending a non-Catholic service for their obligation to attend a Catholic Mass.

Yes but not in place of assisting at a Catholic Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. However, a Catholic may not partake of communion in a non Catholic Church.

Can you be excommunicated for visiting other churches?

You cannot be excommunicated for simply visiting another non-Catholic Church. However, you could excommunicate yourself if you go to a non-Catholic service rather than Sunday mass or were you to receive communion in a non-Catholic Church.

I am a Catholic by birth but I don't go to Church on Sundays and would like to know what other church could I go to and not feel bad?

Haha...no other church! You have the opportunity to see bread turn in to Christ every Sunday and you want to go to another church? No other church has what the Catholic church has. I don't think you realize how special the Holy Mass is. It is a mortal sin to miss mass on Sunday. (In a ROMAN CATHOLIC church.)

What church did Francis de Sales go to?

Can you switch Rites in the Catholic Church?

Roman Catholics, or Latin-Rite Catholics, are certainly free to attend Mass and receive Holy Communion, as well as to go to confession, at a Catholic church of another rite, and vise versa. But actually joining a parish of a different rite is another matter. In order to become a parishioner at a Catholic church of another rite, it is necessary first to become a member of that rite. This is possible, but usually it requires obtaining permission from Rome. To answer your question, though, yes, a Catholic can switch Rites within the Catholic Church.

In a Catholic church were do you go if you sin?

You go to confession. In a catholic church, there is often a little room where the priest sits and you confess your sins to him.

Will you go to hell because you are not Catholic?

Anyone who rejects the Catholic Church will go to hell because the Catholic Church is necessary for salvation. However, if someone is innocently ignorant of the Catholic Church and its necessity, they may be saved if they cooperate with whatever grace they have. If they are, it will only be through Christ and His Church.

What do you call a Catholic who won't go to a Protestant church?

Can you still go to confession if you are Catholic but not married in the Catholic church?

Can a child baptized in the Ukrainian Catholic Church go to a Roman Catholic School?

The Ukrainian Catholic Church is in union with the Holy Father and the Roman Catholic Church, so there should be no problem at all with a child baptized in that rite of the Church attending a Roman Catholic school.

Can a divorced Episcopalian marry a catholic in a catholic church?

For starters, Catholics are bound by Church law to marry according to the Catholic form of marriage unless they get a dispensation for just cause from the bishop. In this case, however, there is yet another impediment, as the Catholic Church considers sacramental marriage a bond indissoluble by human means. The divorced Catholic is, in the eyes of the Church, still married to his or her original spouse. To go to another faith tradition in order to "cheat" the Church on this matter is problematic in that it displays a lack of understanding as to why the Church believes as she does about marriage. Not to mention a lack of understanding as to the importance of fidelity to the faith they supposedly espouse.

What takes place in an Islamic church service?

If you marry in a baptist church and you are Catholic is it a sin?

No, it is not a sin.If you are Catholic, it is assumed you will be married in a Catholic liturgy, but you can get permission to marry in another church if your spouse belongs to that church or for another good reason.Roman Catholic AnswerThat depends. If you have gotten married in a baptist church without permission, if you have gotten a civil marriage without dispensation, if you have married a non-Catholic without permission from your Bishop: then, yes, in all these cases, you would need to speak to a priest to straighten the situation out, and you would need to go to confession.
