Catholic Answer No. First of all, Methodists do not have the Eucharist, they have a memorial service that they commemorate the Last Supper but they do not believe that it actually is the Body and Blood of Christ. Secondly, any real, active participation in a Protestant service in their church is not permitted to a Catholic as we have the fullness of Christ's revelation and we are supposed to be bringing the truth to them and bring them back to the Church, not showing support for error. But they have been baptised, and thus are Christians, so we must show respect and brotherly love, concern, etc.: NOT support for the errors.

∙ 12y agoNo, a Protestant may not receive communion in a Catholic Church. Receiving communion in a Catholic Church indicates that you are in full agreement with all Catholic teachings and doctrines, including the True Presence in the Eucharist. It also indicates that you are a baptized and practicing Catholic in a state of grace. To receive communion otherwise is a desecration of the Eucharist and hypocritical of the person doing so.

Catholic AnswerCertainly not. In the first place "communion" in a Presbyterian church is just a memorial service. as they have no valid priests, they are unable to offer the Sacrifice of the Mass. Second of all, to receive or attempt to receive, or pretend to receive Communion is an indication that you are "in communion" with that ecclesial community. Presbyterians are a protestant "church". That means that they were formed in protest against Christian practices: to receive communion in a Presbyterian Church would be to declare that you are protesting the Catholic Church and effectively excommunicate yourself. You would need to speak to a priest in confession before you attempt to receive Holy Communion again.Wiki User
