No. CDs are of lesser capacity than that of DVDs. Also if the computer drive is just a CD-Writer drive and not a DVD writer it will not burn DVDs.

Is there any solution for a neo laptop whose DVD drive can burn but cant play?

Reading is the lowest power requirement for the optical drive. Buring uses the maximum power requirement. If it can read CDs but not DVDs, pleas reinstall the codecs (by installing powerdvd or VLC). If it can't even read CDs, you may need to flash the firmware on the drive. Please go to device manager (right click my computer, choose properties, click on the hard ware tab, and choose device manager) and check the model for the DVDRW drive. You should be able to find firmware based on that model number.

What kind of CD do I need to record music from my computer?

You can use any kind of writable CD that your drive can burn (e.g. CD-R, CD+R, CD-RW). While there are "Audio" CD, these are not necessary as both the "Audio" and "Data" CDs use the same recording method and error correction techniques on playback. As I said above, the only real limit is which kind of CD that your drive can burn. I can't tell you that, the instructions for the drive will. But almost all drives will burn CD-R disks, even if they can't do some others.
