or rather.
It do depend a bit on what type of DVD player the Wii has got.
If you install HomeBrew Channel and the software (Homebrew again) for playing media, then you are supposed to be able to watch DVD films.
I can play music although I can not watch movies on our Wii back home here.
The DVD player rejects any DVD I put into it but I think this is more due to the internal software of the DVD player rather than the abilties of the Wii.
