If you are a Mexican, Canadian or American citizen you can cross the border on foot or by car with a valid photo ID. As of July 2011 you still do not need a passport. If you were to arrive by air or Cruise ship you would need a passport.
Yes, this summer 2009 it will be an requirement for all persons to show a passport to cross the United States border back, and forth.
Take a passport. As a US citizen, you won't have much trouble entering Mexico, but you will have to establish your citizenship to get back.
You will need one, and maybe even more documentation, such as a visa, depending on where you are coming from in the world.
Not if their parent or parents are Mexican. We just went over the Christmas break and we were told that being my husband is Mexican the children didnt need to show their passports or get a temporary visa to enter Mexico. Now when coming back we showed all of our passports at the border and had no problems coming back. I do believe that all U.S. citizens now need a passport to reenter the U.S.
If coming from the US, Canada, Europe or Japan, all you need is you passport. Otherwise, you will also need a visa issued by the Mexican government.
Laws ChangedIn Sept/Oct 2007, the laws have been changed and they seem to indicate that anyone leaving or entering the US from either Mexico or Canada must show a passport. AnswerGoing to Mexico isn't the problem ... Coming Back IS!! By 2008 or 2009 a passport will be required by every American citizen to pass between the countries of Mexico and/or Canada (Or...)We're assuming the questioner is from the US... The question is in regard to NEW Mexico...the STATE tucked between Arizona and Texas and just below Colorado! State Captial is SANTA FE. and NO as yet passports are not needed to travel to or from this state.
Your military ID works as a passport. Just be careful to which places you travel. Flashing a military ID may not be greeted by a smiling face. While I was in, I would visit Mexico and just show my military ID and come back across.
I think you do now since they passed the new laws. Getting in isn't the problem, but coming back is without a passport.
Yes, everyone coming into the United States now requires a passport.
That will depend on your nationality and where you are coming from. Generally though, for any international travel you should have a passport.
Only if your NOT coming from the US
